We Owe the Next Generation an Honest Climate Conversation
Neither doom nor denial serves young people. What they deserve is a clear account of the trade-offs ahead.
There is a temptation to present climate change as either an unstoppable apocalypse or a solved problem. Both are lies of convenience.
The middle is where the work is
The real story is messier and more hopeful: emissions can bend, technology is scaling, and the pace of change is a political choice as much as a physical one.
Despair and complacency lead to the same place — inaction.
Young people are not fragile. They can hold complexity. What they cannot afford is a generation that flinches from telling them the truth about the costs and the choices.
